I started this project long before the 2016 Presidential election, when the legacies of the Watergate scandal served as a history lesson: the corruptive force of power, the genesis of investigative journalism and the role of a whistleblower. I’ve been fascinated with Watergate since I was eleven years old and saw the movie “All the President’s Men.” The movie and the media coverage of the original “Gate” shaped the way I think about politics. This is Watergate chronicles the principal places where the scandal occurred. I imitated the qualities of forty year old images I remember from television and the theatre. This project was meant to document Watergate, then current events unfolded and it became a warning for the future.
